Your investments should reflect what you want your wealth to achieve.

Maryann Selfe, independent investment advisor in Zurich, in a green blazer

I provide independent advice to private investors and families who want to review their existing investments, build a portfolio or have an experienced advisor to turn to when decisions arise.

Drawing on more than two decades advising institutional and private wealth clients, I bring experience across multi-asset portfolios, equities, fixed income and alternative investments, including private equity and venture capital.

How I work

I help clients assess what they already own and construct portfolios suited to their objectives. The work is modular, so we agree the scope around the support you need.

Review and analysis

We begin with your objectives, financial circumstances and priorities.

I review your portfolio, examining underlying exposures, risk concentrations, liquidity, direct and indirect costs, and what each holding contributes. You receive clear written conclusions and recommendations, with the reasoning explained.

Portfolio construction

I help you establish an asset allocation that reflects your objectives, risk appetite and liquidity needs, then assess suitable investments with attention to quality, portfolio fit and cost.

Where needed, I also advise on choosing a bank or investment platform. You retain the investment decisions and carry out implementation through your chosen provider.

Ongoing advice

For clients seeking an ongoing relationship, quarterly portfolio reviews provide a regular opportunity to assess progress, revisit risks and consider rebalancing.

Between reviews, you can contact me about an investment you are considering, a recommendation from your bank or something in the news you would like to discuss. An optional monthly market letter shares the developments I consider important and their implications for investors.

What you can expect

Attention to costs

Costs can be difficult to see when they sit within products, transactions or several layers of management. I examine what you pay and whether each investment's contribution justifies its cost.

Independent judgement

I am not affiliated with a bank or required to recommend its products. My advice starts with your objectives and an assessment of the options available. Any relevant third-party compensation is disclosed upfront.

A continuing relationship

Good advice depends on understanding you and maintaining an honest conversation as your needs change. I aim to build a relationship in which you feel comfortable asking questions, challenging recommendations and discussing concerns.

The responsibility behind the advice

Advising clients and managing portfolios has taught me that wealth is always personal. Behind it are years of work, families and hopes for the future.

Being entrusted with that responsibility means exercising sound judgement, explaining recommendations clearly and remaining accountable for the advice I give.
