Years in Private Wealth & Institutional Investing

For more than two decades, Maryann Selfe worked in private wealth and institutional investing, advising family offices and institutional investors on capital allocation across public and private markets.

Nigerian-born and Anglo-Swiss, she built her career across London, Zurich, and New York, helping sophisticated investors navigate uncertainty and make long-term investment decisions. Most recently Head of Investment Solutions at BIL Suisse, Maryann previously spent two decades at Credit Suisse (later UBS), where she directly managed more than CHF700 million in client assets and held investment advisory responsibility across CHF5 billion in mandates. Her experience spans manager selection, fund selection, portfolio construction and strategic asset allocation within a regulated institutional framework.

Over time, she came to believe that the convergence of scientific innovation, demographic change, and shifting wealth flows was creating a new era of precision healthcare, with women's health emerging as one of its clearest investment opportunities. Yet while the science was advancing rapidly, the investment infrastructure through which institutional capital could access the category was still emerging.

Today she is building the market intelligence, strategic relationships and investment infrastructure required for emerging healthcare sectors to mature into institutional investment categories. Maryann is the author of The Billion Dollar Blindspot, founder of FemmeHealth Alliance, and is building Calabar Capital — three complementary initiatives designed to accelerate the flow of capital into women's health and precision healthcare.

Maryann is a Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA), holds an MBA from Cardiff University, and completed executive programmes at Oxford University. She is a contributor to the Financial Times and Institutional Investor, and was the recipient of the WealthBriefing 2025 Women in Wealth Management Switzerland Award. Her conviction is simple: scientific innovation alone does not create an investment category. Markets mature when capital has the infrastructure, access, and confidence to participate. Her work is focused on helping build that future.
