Maryann Selfe is the Founder, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Calabar Capital, author of The Billion Dollar Blindspot and originator of The Precision Premium investment thesis.
She received the Women in Wealth Management Switzerland Award in 2025 and serves as a Trustee and Investment Committee Member of the EIRIS Foundation.
Her institutional investment career spans more than two decades across public and private markets. At Credit Suisse (later UBS), her responsibilities included investing client capital, building investment portfolios and structuring complex cross-border investment solutions, with investment-risk oversight across more than $100 billion in client assets.
She served on the executive management team of a Swiss private bank and chaired the Swiss Investment Committee at Banque Internationale à Luxembourg Suisse, with leadership responsibilities spanning investment strategy, governance and capital allocation. Across her career, she has held formal investment veto rights, reviewed more than 1,000 managers and participated in more than 90 investment allocations.
That experience informs her approach today: rigorous manager assessment, disciplined portfolio construction and the judgement to challenge an investment before committing capital.
Through Calabar Capital, she brings institutional investment discipline to women's health and healthcare technology, combining specialist venture funds with direct co-investments.
Her original thesis, The Precision Premium, identifies the potential value created when a more precise understanding of biology, clinical needs and lived experience leads to better healthcare and durable businesses. Women's health is a leading edge of this broader healthcare transition.
